The Rundown: France vs Poland

France eliminated Poland from the World Cup quarterfinals thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe and a record-setting performance from Olivier Giroud.

After France had a tough time making an impact against a weak but resilient Polish team, Giroud scored the game-winning goal just before halftime to turn the tide. The AC Milan forward went up a notch by slipping a shot from close range past Wojciech Szczesny. Thierry Henry has scored 52 goals for Les Bleus, putting him in first place on the all-time record.

France came out from the back, and Mbappe, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, slammed a shot straight past Szczesny after receiving a pass from Giroud. His second goal was even better; after dribbling the ball from left to right, he curled a shot high towards the opposite corner, where it went in despite the Poland goalie getting a finger on it.

One of last night’s highlights at our World Cup 2022 free livestream is the consolation penalty netted by Robert Lewandowski; the penalty was taken twice due to Hugo Lloris leaving his line to save the first attempt.

Player of the game: Kylian Mbappe

In the 44th minute, France took the lead when Mbappe slid in Giroud, who took one touch and finished left-footed past Wojciech Szczesny for his 3rd strike of the tournament and to become France’s all-time leading male goalscorer.

Midway through the second half, Mbappe gave France some breathing room when he scored past Szczesny to make it 2-0. He later added a beautiful third in the top corner to eliminate Poland from the tournament.

The Rundown: England vs Senegal

Thanks to three fantastic goals, England advanced through Senegal and into the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup, where they will face the eventual champions, France. It’ll be a tough match for sure as we head on to the top teams with the best World Cup betting odds 2022.

After a difficult stretch in which Ismaila Sarr squandered a great chance from close range, England got on the board thanks to a goal by Jordan Henderson, who netted a Jude Bellingham cross.

Later, just before halftime, England’s captain and the 2018 Golden Boot winner, Harry Kane, opened the scoring with a ferocious shot that put the hosts on the board in Qatar. Phil Foden looked up from the left flank and found Bukayo Saka in the penalty area for goal number three, capping off another smooth sequence of play.

Once Henderson’s goal calmed England down, they were unstoppable, and Gareth Southgate’s squad is now one win away from the quarterfinals and a mouthwatering matchup.

Player of the game: Jude Bellingham

It’s hard to believe that Southgate had any qualms about Bellingham’s readiness to play on the largest platform in football at the age of 19 before this World Cup since he’s nothing short of exceptional.

It was a bold move by Southgate to start Bellingham in England’s first game against Iran, but it has paid off handsomely so far. Bellingham has been regarded as England’s finest player in each of the team’s last four matches, and he has emerged as an integral cog in the team’s defensive structure.

After then, England were comfortably in the lead and Southgate made several substitutions with the team’s advancement to the quarterfinals of the World Cup all but certain for the first time since 2002 and 2006.

On December 10 at the Al-Bayt Stadium, England will play current champions France in the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup.
