In October 2021, after four years of construction, the Al Thumama Stadium finally opened with the Amir Cup final against Al Sadd and Al Rayyan. It continued to host six more games of the FIFA Arab Cup, as well as Qatar's semi-final. The stadium's capacity will be cut in half once the World Cup is completed so that seats can be donated to underdeveloped nations. It is located on Doha's southern side.
