The city of Al Khor in Qatar's north is home to the stadium with the longest travel time from Doha, the country's capital. The stadium debuted its retractable roof at the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, where it hosted three group stage matches, one quarter-final match, and the championship game, which Algeria won. After the World Cup is over, the stadium will be remodeled to reduce its capacity by roughly half and then gifted to developing countries in need of sports infrastructure.
