The Rundown: Morocco vs Portugal
Portuguese forward Christiano Ronaldo and his team applied intense pressure but were unable to break through. In the end, passion triumphed over breeding, as Youssef En-goal Nesyri was enough to propel Morocco to the next round.
With this victory, Morocco has become the first African team to go to the semifinals of a FIFA World Cup, joining the likes of Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay in the quarterfinals. It was definitely one of the main highlights of our World Cup 2022 free livestream.
Just before halftime, En-Nesyri soared high to head home, and the Moroccan wall seized over, smothering Portugal’s offense for the remaining 60 minutes. Portugal’s manager, Fernando Santos, opted to start the inexperienced Goncalo Ramos in the attack to open the game, but he quickly substituted his veteran captain, Ronaldo, shortly after halftime.
In the end, it didn’t matter much because Ronaldo squandered his best chance to win the game. The actual dose of attacking flair was provided by Rafael Leao, but it was too late to change the scoreline.
Midfielders Sofiane Boufal and Azzedine Ounahi of Morocco were instrumental all game, and substitute defender Yahia Attiyat Allah worked very hard.
Player of the game: Sofyan Amrabat
The dominance of Portugal in possession was so great that it even made Morocco’s metronome Sofyan Amrabat have 32 touches on the ball over the course of the entire game. The midfielder didn’t see much of the ball, but when he did, he made huge contributions to helping the Morocco defense relax.
Amrabat proved he could carry the ball further by reaching the offensive third twice and producing one clear-cut chance in addition to his 8 ball turnovers and 3 tackles. Simply put, Amrabat was vital in every aspect of the game for Morocco and has a strong case to be awarded Player of the Tournament.

In spite of losing their captain, Romain Saiss, to an injury in the second half and their substitute, Walid Cheddira, to a red card in stoppage time, Morocco remained in fine physical and tactical form and organization. Yassine Bounou, in goal, was also brilliant, making many key saves to preserve the shutout and ensure qualifying to meet the victor of England and France.

The Rundown: England vs France
The World Cup betting odds 2022 favorites, France, defeated England in a thrilling quarterfinal match at the Al Bayt Stadium, with Olivier Giroud’s close-range header and Harry Kane’s missed penalty kick deciding the game.
After the Tottenham striker tied Wayne Rooney’s tally of 53 goals for England to take his team even in the second half, Kane fired a penalty over through the crossbar with six minutes remaining to prevent England from tying the game for a second time.
In the 17th minute, France took the lead on a shot from 25 yards out by Aurelien Tchouameni, who beat Jordan Pickford’s diving save. France dominated the early going, but they needed a stunning save from Kane that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made to keep his side ahead.
A stinging shot from Jude Bellingham was deflected over the bar by Lloris, and a drive from close range by Giroud was stopped by England’s Pickford in the second half as the teams traded opportunities. Kane, a three-time winner of the Premier League Golden Boot, made history when he became the first player in World Cup history to both convert a goal and miss a penalty.
Player of the game: Antoine Griezmann
Tchouameni’s wonderful shot into the bottom corner came after England quickly retreated within their own area in response to a desperate tackle by Declan Rice. Against Italy in the World Cup quarterfinals, Antoine Griezmann sent up two assists, becoming the very first French player to do it since Dominique Rocheteau in 1986.
