Stadium:

Al Janoub Stadium

Following a bumpy start to their qualification run, Uruguay won their final four matches to finish third in the South American qualifiers. They've made it to the tournament for the 14th time overall and 4th straight time, and this time they want to win for the very first time since 1950.

Even though Uruguay have been eliminated in the quarterfinals of their last three international championships, the fact that five of their top six all-time most-capped players are still active should be cause for concern.

Darwin Nunez

Key Player: Darwin Nunez (Liverpool)

Even though Uruguay has a lot of talented players, many of their superstars like Godin, Cavani, and Suarez are already in their mid-thirties, thus the younger players will be closely watched.

Darwin Nunez is one such player who was transferred from Benfica to Liverpool in the summer for a reported SGD 138 million. It may still be early, but the forward shows signs of thriving in the Premier League.
